When operating flotation machines, we should adjust the flotation process appropriately according to the nature of raw materials, product requirements, processing capacity and equipment wear.
The items that need to be adjusted mainly include: slurry level, aeration volume, slurry circulation volume, and clearance of agitation mechanism.
Although the speed of the impeller has a great influence, it needs to be determined in advance by test, so it is generally not adjusted.
The level of the slurry is usually controlled by the gate of the tailings dam. When there is a middlings box, the gate size controls the liquid level of each tank. Under the premise of ensuring the quality of the concentrate and tailings, the gate should be appropriately enlarged to increase capacity.
However, when the gate is too large, the liquid level would be low and the foam layer would be thick. When the foaming depth is not well controlled, the mineralized bubbles cannot be scraped out in time, which will cause the loss of concentrate.
On the contrary, when the liquid level is too high, the foam layer would be thin and the secondary enrichment effect would be poor. Besides, it is easy to cause some unmineralized gangue particles to enter the concentrate.
When the amount of aeration is too large, the slurry surface will turn over, and a stable foam layer cannot be formed, which will deteriorate the flotation effect.
However, when the aeration is insufficient, some useful minerals cannot be attached to the foams in time, which will affect the processing capacity and cause the loss of concentrate.
The aeration volume of the press-in flotation machine can be adjusted by adjusting the air press-in volume.
The air of the self-air suction flotation machine generally enters through the sleeve or sleeve and the hollow shaft at the same time.
At this time, the amount of air intake will affect the amount of slurry, and we should pay attention to adjusting the amount of air and slurry both.
Generally, the amount of air in the sleeve and the hollow shaft is adjusted through the cover or end plate at the end.
The air intake of the sleeve has a small influence on the slurry suction, while the air intake of the hollow shaft has a greater influence on the slurry suction. Under the premise of ensuring the aeration volume, the slurry suction should be considered at the same time.
If the aeration volume drops, we can consider adjusting the axial clearance of the impeller. When the axial clearance cannot be adjusted or the radial clearance is too large, the impeller stator assembly should be replaced; clean up the debris blocking the circulation hole of the stator or properly open wide the sleeve intake pipe or hollow shaft aperture; tighten or replace the V-shaped drive belt.
The slurry circulation and air intake will be affected by the area of the circulation hole.
Increasing the area of the circulation hole can increase the chance of remineralization of the slurry, but it will also cause over-crushing of the ore particles, equipment abrasion and power consumption. The area of the circulation hole should be adjusted according to the flotation machine's processing capacity and product quality to make the circulation volume reach an appropriate (small) level.
We can block part of the circulation holes, or a part of each circulation hole. At the same time, it should be noted that the debris that is not artificially blocked on the circulation holes needs to be removed regularly.
The clearance of the agitation mechanism mainly refers to the clearance between the impeller and the stator, including radial and axial clearances. The adjustable clearance is generally the axial clearance.
The size of the clearance affects the air suction volume, slurry suction volume, and the degree of wear of the stator and rotor of the flotation machine.
During the use of the flotation machine, as the stator and rotor continue to wear, the gap will continue to increase, which will affect the flotation index.
Generally, we can adjust the axial clearance between the impeller and the stator through the adjustment gasket between the bearing seat and the sleeve. It is difficult to adjust the radial clearance. If the clearance is too large, the impeller or stator should be replaced.
The above are the items that need to be adjusted during the flotation operation. In actual production, you could refer to the above principles to adjust flotation operation to achieve better flotation indicators.
